About Playful Steps

Occupational therapy built around real life

Playful Steps provides thoughtful, practical occupational therapy in the places children live, learn and play. Support is shaped around the routines that matter to each family.

Our role is to understand what helps each child participate, communicate their needs, build useful skills and experience greater confidence in everyday activities.

Our philosophy

Support that respects the whole child

Assessment and intervention are guided by professional reasoning, current evidence and the child’s meaningful participation goals.

Goals and strategies are developed with families and adapted as needs, environments and circumstances change.

Strengths-focused

We build from a child’s interests, abilities and relationships while addressing barriers that make everyday activities harder.

Family-centred

Families know their child best. Priorities and strategies are developed together with attention to everyday routines.

Our approach

Principles that guide our work

There is no standard program that suits every child. Activities, pacing and recommendations are adapted to the child, family and environment.

Evidence-informed

Professional reasoning and current evidence

Neuroaffirming

Participation, autonomy and access

Goal-driven

Clear purpose and meaningful progress
